Plot[]

Bendy and Boris (called Bendybeard and First Mate Boris, respectively) are in a pub, sleeping off their root beer binge. Boris wakes up after his longtime foe, Bile Barley, shows a treasure map to 'The Lost Treasure of the Flying Dutchdevil' to his crew. Boris makes sure to copy the map by looking at it through an empty root beer bottle as a spyglass. After informing his captain, the pirate duo set off to find the treasure. Bendybeard wants to use the treasure to buy more root beers.

While sailing the seas, Boris tells his captain to keep an eye out for a mermaid while being thankful about not needing to pass the sea monster. Bendybeard claims the mermaid on the map is just an illustration. He then calls Boris a 'scurvy dog'. Boris quickly 'corrects' Bendybeard; stating he is a wolf, not a dog. Alice, as a mermaid, yells at Bendybeard for calling her a illustration.

Bendybeard and Boris are surprised to see a mermaid. They give Alice the map and she reminisces about posing for the picture, citing it happening about a century ago. She then praises The Flying Dutchdevil for being an amazing pirate.

After seeing the arrival of Bile Barley and his crew, Alice makes a deal with Bendybeard and Boris: she will lead them to The Flying Dutchdevil's treasure if they promise to leave her waters and never return, automatically assuming that Bendy and Boris are affiliated with Barely and his crew, to which they agree. Bile Barley watches from afar before following, not wanting the duo to get 'his' treasure.

Once on land, Boris states the treasure is under a big X. Bendybeard, once again, denounces it as an illustration. Like before, he is wrong. This time, he receives a 'told ya' from his first mate.

The duo dig up the treasure. Biley Barley arrives and points his blunderbuss at them, just as they open the treasure chest. Inside of it is a note from The Flying Dutchdevil himself. It is him taunting any treasure hunter reading it. Bendybeard and Boris leave as a confused Bile Barley continues to read the letter. The comic ends with the Bendybeard Pirates setting sail for another adventure, with The Flying Dutchdevil watching them from a distance.

Trivia[]

  • This is the third and last known comic to show Alice wearing something other than her usual dress.
    • It also the only known comic to show her in a completely different form. Namely, her as a mermaid.
      • Alice's mermaid design also seems to be a reference to Betty Boop's appearance in "Betty Boop's Life Guard", were she also turns into a mermaid after diving into the ocean.
  • The Flying Dutchdevil is a parody of the famous ship The Flying Dutchman. It also doubles as a reference to the fictitious character named The Flying Dutchman from the ever-popular Nickelodeon television series Spongebob Squarepants, who is the Spectre of a long-dead pirate.
  • The name “Bendybeard” is a parody of the infamous British pirate known as Edward Teach, or as he was also known, “Blackbeard”, for his distinctively long black beard.
