"The Dark Puddles send a gift..."
The Dark Puddles, in Chapter 1 of Bendy and the Dark Revival

The Dark Puddles, commonly referred to as The Ink, is an unnatural living organism that was created by the Ink Machine.

Bestiary[]

Appearance[]

The Dark Puddles is nothing less than a black ink-like substance with no descriptive details. Usually, it lacks any form or shape, due to its liquid-like behaviors, however it can form faces similar to the ones on Searchers, as shown in Bendy and the Dark Revival.

Behavior[]

Far from the inert liquid it appears to be, the dark puddles are capable of moving, and even slithering into someone's mouth.

Properties[]

If it were to make contact with another living organism, the dark puddles will heighten an organism's emotions, primarily those which they hold back. This is best displayed by Bill Chambers, Constance Gray, and Brant Morris. Upon contact with the ink, Bill began to be more cowardly and scared, Constance became more aggressive and annoyed, and Brant found himself constantly ashamed and feeling guilty even over the most minor offensives, like a poorly timed joke.

It also appears to possess incredibly addictive properties, as demonstrated by Sammy Lawrence becoming 'hooked' after some of it gets inside his mouth.

It can also turn people into twisted parodies of cartoon characters, or just make them resemble humanoid blobs of ink, like Lost Ones. When paired with the Ink Machine, it can also form rough approximations of cartoon characters such as the Ink Demon without the need for a human host, receiving information on shape and behavior from cartoon films depicting the character it's trying to imitate that are fed through the Ink Machine.

Individuals who are turned into cartoon characters also begin to exhibit the personalities and traits of said characters, such as Daniel Lewek losing the ability to speak after being transformed into a copy of Boris the Wolf due to Boris being mute in the cartoons. Their memories also seem to fade the longer they're in the state of being

The Dark Puddles have also managed to create people in living flesh such as Audrey Drew who was created to be Joey Drew's daughter.

The Dark Puddles can also give people powers, as seen when Audrey was given the banish ability.

History[]

Not much is known about The Dark Puddles' history before Dreams Come to Life. It was made for the Ink Machine, so it can be assumed it was made around the time the Ink Machine was created.

Dreams Come to Life[]

Sammy Lawrence gets covered in the ink due to a burst pipe in the supply closet. He bursts into the Music Room, tackling Daniel "Buddy" Lewek. Buddy helps him by giving him water and a cloth to wash his face. Sammy accidentally swallowed some of the ink, leading to his development of an addiction.

While Buddy is grabbing paper and The Dark Puddles' ink from the supply closet so he can draw, he hears voices and hides in the closet. He listens to Thomas Connor and Sammy Lawrence arguing about something, mentioning that Sammy had asked one of Thomas' workers where the ink was kept last Friday. TBA

Boris and the Dark Survival[]

The Dark Puddles appear throughout the floors as small splatters. During The Projectionist's levels, the ink will be completely unavoidable, as thick trails of it are everywhere.

Bendy and the Ink Machine[]

The Dark Puddles appear throughout the studio, either in the form of large amounts or small splatters.

Bendy and the Dark Revival[]

The Dark Puddles, just like in Bendy and the Ink Machine, appear throughout the studio. However, they actually speak to Audrey during one moment of the game, giving her the Banish ability.

Trivia[]

  • It is unknown if Thick Ink and/or Extra-Thick Ink fall under this category of ink, though it is possible, as Extra-Thick Ink pulses on the ground and Thick Ink seems to slightly move in Henry’s hand.
