"Blah blah blah blah blah BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH!"
Piper, mocking Henry while being fought, Bendy and the Ink Machine: Chapter 3.

Piper is one of the physical incarnations of the Butcher Gang and an imperfect reflection of Charley.

Bestiary[]

Physical Appearance[]

Like his original form Charley, he is a cartoon humanoid character, with large ears, a black nose, a black beard and sideburns, a nearly bald head, and wearing a black tailcoat with a white vest and a black tie. His stature is slightly taller than the two other Butcher Gang enemies. In his physical form however, has a much more twisted and disfigured appearance. Unlike the Butcher Gang enemies, Piper looks much more recognizable comparing to his original counterpart. Piper wields the pipe wrench as his weapon, hence his name.

In context to Charley, both of his eyes are mutilated in a different manner; his right eye being gouged out and filled with some kind of ink, while sporting a stitched X-shape for the left eye. Instead of originally circular, the shape of his ears strangely resembles those of a human. His mouth is always wide open as if screaming, with human-like teeth instead of usual triangular ones. He wears a single black shoe on his left leg and has a peg-leg for his right leg, which gives him a limp when walking or running. His arms are long and skinny, and he wears a pale yellow glove on his right hand. His left arm looks stiff in position, and he is also missing his entire left hand. His tailcoat is slightly worn out with the right sleeve shorter than the left, and a hole is located from the bottom left of his stomach to reveal his innards.

In Bendy and the Ink Machine and Boris and the Dark Survival, Piper's X-shaped left eye has small stitches, a plunger for his right leg, and an animalistic nose similar to his original counterpart.

In Bendy and the Dark Revival, Piper has gone through a much more realistic appearance. He has a more human-looking face, more exposed rotten teeth gums from the upper jaw, a leathery X-shaped stitch over a permanently closed eye, a less animalistic nose that still slightly resembles his original, and his plunger peg-leg is instead a pipe peg-leg, resembling a modified Gent Pipe. The hole located from the bottom left of his stomach now appears to have his innards spilling out, as it shows a bit of his intestines now hanging out just above his left leg. His right sleeve is no longer rolled up, and he has some cloth wrapped around his remaining ankle.

Behavior[]

Piper moves very quickly towards the protagonist, and when near them he will slow down. When close enough, Piper deals damage by hitting with his pipe wrench. Piper can kill the protagonist after attacking about 6 times in a row. Piper has a very low range vertical strike and a high range horizontal strike.

Strategies[]

In Bendy and the Ink Machine, a good strategy to kill him is to wait for him to attack, back away, and come back while the animation is still playing. That way, Henry will be able to hit him at least twice before he can attack again. If faced with multiple Butcher Gang enemies it's best to kill him after Striker, as he is not very strong but not as slow as Fisher, which allows Henry to lure him away from Fisher and kill him easily. If he gets too close to the ink trails of The Ink Demon, he will die instantly. If Henry has no weapons, hiding inside the Little Miracle Station will make Piper stop attacking.

Weapon(s) Total hits
Axe 1
Tommy Gun, Empty Bacon Soup Can, Pipe Wrench 2
Gent Pipe 8-9 (first encounter)
3-4 (later encounters)

Appearances[]

Boris and the Dark Survival[]

Piper appear as one of the unlockable enemies, first introduced in The Unleashed update.

Piper, along with the other two Butcher Gang enemies were locked up in the wooden box, which requires 5 Keys in order to get it open. Once released, Piper will be seen creeping around the levels. He will go after Buddy Boris upon being spotted, whether he had a chance to kill him.

Bendy and the Ink Machine[]

Chapter 3: Rise and Fall[]

Who'sLaughingNow

The first appearance of Piper, in Chapter 3: Rise and Fall.

Piper is the first Butcher Gang enemy Henry encounters. His first appearance is at the end of Level K's power hallway from Henry's left, where he suddenly arrives by breaking through a "The Butcher Gang" cartoon poster and lets out a raspy scream at Henry upon approach. Piper walks toward him, only to clumsily fall off, getting back up a few moments later to proceed to chase after Henry to attack. Henry must finish Piper off with the Gent pipe before making the switch available to activate the entrance to the next location.

AliceTorturingPiper

Twisted Alice talking with Henry after torturing Piper, in Chapter 3: Rise and Fall.

On Level 9, multiple lifeless clones of Piper and Boris can also be seen strapped to the tables in the flooded morgue, in which multiple Fisher and Striker corpses can also be seen. Twisted Alice explains that she uses the corpses' insides to increase her beauty and shape.

Piper is next seen strapped to a table behind the window of the room at the end of Level 9, where he is tortured by Twisted Alice with heating sparks. She contemplates the possibility of killing Henry or tear him apart for the heart, using Piper as an example. Behind Piper's torture for punishment, Twisted Alice claims that he stormed into her chamber while trying to kill her, and if he succeeded he would have sent her back to the dark puddles.[2] After demanding Henry to do her bidding, Twisted Alice blocks the entire window with the gate and resumes torturing Piper.

Piper with special gear

Piper with a special gear during a fetch quest, in Chapter 3: Rise and Fall.

During the special gears task for Twisted Alice, Piper spawns in the areas on Level K, roaming around the indoor balcony, the power hallway where he was first encountered, and the toy storage. In this fetch quest, Piper will be seen holding the special gear in his right hand, and will drop it after he is killed. Piper will later respawn during Henry's other tasks.

When coming back after destroying the Bendy cutouts, Henry's next task is to defend Twisted Alice's entrance of the inner sanctum on Level 9 from Piper, and other the Butcher Gang enemies.

Piper's Hearth

Piper's corpse in the Inky Abyss, in Chapter 3: Rise and Fall.

In Level 14, the last time Piper is seen in this chapter is at the Inky Abyss with other Butcher Gang enemies, with several Piper corpses that can be found scattered in the ink flood. Some of these corpses contain an ink heart.

At the toy machine room's secret area of the toy machine room after killing the pack of Searcher Minibosses from pulling the first lever, activating the second lever will spawn numerous Butcher Gang enemies at the Heavenly Toys room that includes several clones of Piper.

Chapter 4: Colossal Wonders[]
AllHailTheFire

Piper and his fellow Butcher gangsters huddling around a dumpster fire.

Piper is only encountered in the Research & Design department of Storage 9, where he, Fisher, and Striker gather around a fire in a barrel. Having no weapons to equip, Henry's one other way of passing the Butcher Gang is to use empty Bacon Soup cans to create a distraction, drawing them away from the entrance to nearby rooms, otherwise, they will go after Henry to attack if he did not make it safely to other rooms in time, or if he didn't distract him. Hitting him with an empty can of Bacon Soup makes him, and the others catch Henry and chase him.

Chapter 5: The Last Reel[]
HallMonitor

Piper searching for any intruders in the administrator hall.

Piper is on duty to guard the Administration maze, along with Striker and Fisher to prevent Henry from getting the thick ink needed to create the pipes to drain the ink in the film vault. When he spots him a startling sound will begin and he will chase him, Henry can still hide in the Little Miracle Stations to make him lose sight out of him.

Bendy and the Dark Revival[]

Chapter 1: Drawn to Darkness[]

Bendy and the Dark Revival Piper

Piper chasing Audrey through the Artist's Atrium.

Piper is the first enemy Audrey will encounter.

Although he has a prominent role in the game, Piper is mostly a minor enemy. He first appears as a seemingly dead corpse that emerges from a vent in the ceiling. He later reappeared in the Heavenly Toys area; when Audrey was climbing a brick wall, Piper takes her by surprise and uses his pipe wrench to knock her to the ground before performing a jump attack, forcing Audrey to flee. When she hides in a Miracle Station, he tries to attack her through the peeping hole, to no avail. Piper then hears humming that sounds eerily similar to that of Twisted Alice. Realizing that the angel might be nearby, he decides to stop attacking Audrey and walks away. Later on, he can sometimes pop up from a linker pipe or normal pipe puddle and will attempt to destroy Audrey but will run back to the puddle if attacked or out of range.

Chapter 5: The Dark Revival[]

Piper is last seen when Audrey, inside Beast Bendy, arrives to restart The Cycle. He is seen trying to free himself from the weight of the Lurker's foot.

Trivia[]

  • It is most likely that all members of The Butcher Gang are possessed by some of Joey's former employees, seeing how every attempt after Bendy would include a soul, as stated in two Chapter Five audio logs.
    • In BATDR, Alice states that "he's part of a gang", insinuating that there is only ONE Butcher Gang.
    • Also in BATDR, whenever a butcher gang member attacks you, whenever losing, they just run away, instead of dying and respawning.
  • PiperConceptArt

    Piper's concept art.

In his original Bendy and the Ink Machine concept art, Piper's clothes are more worn, and his chin seems to melt with few wax-like drips.
  • In the reveal trailer for Bendy and the Ink Machine: Chapter 3, Piper can be briefly seen running across in one of the trailer room's hallways with Striker.
    • Piper made his split-second appearance in the Bendy and the Dark Revival title reveal trailer, and appeared in the gameplay showcase trailer where he ends up getting banished by Audrey's power.
  • In the game files for Bendy and the Ink Machine, there is an actual death animation for Piper along with two other Butcher Gang enemies, supposed to play after killing him. However, this never displays in-game and Piper instead turns ragdoll.
  • In Bendy and the Ink Machine: Chapter 3, Piper using the special gear for his left arm while wielding the pipe wrench is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the actual task where Henry collects special gears while equipping his pipe wrench.
  • In Bendy and the Ink Machine: Chapter 3, on Level P, as noticed from the windows of the right-sided room in the lobby workshop, a Piper corpse can be seen laying on top of the table. However when Henry enters the room, Piper's body vanishes.
  • In Bendy and the Ink Machine: Chapter 4, the Piper corpse is found in the Maintenance room, laying next to the wooden crate piled on top with ink hearts.
