Ode to Reuben is the twenty-third known Bendy comic. Its publication date is June 10, 1933.
Characters[]
Plot[]
Bendy, up to his pie-stealing antics again, triggers a chain of events that led up to his capture. Starting with a weight tied to the string the pie was on, it activated a jack-in-a-box. Its sudden pop up scared a bird in a birdbath. As it flew away, it laid an egg on a target, causing a bowling ball to roll down a ramp. Bendy is shown to be running, too focused on the pie to notice the commotion around him.
The bowling ball hits a set of bowling pins, sending one to hit a target that fires a cannon with Ruby's patent on it. The cannon launches an eight ball at a string, causing the cage it was hold to fall. The cage caught Bendy as Ruby gloats about it to the frustrated devil.
Trivia[]
- A Rube Goldberg machine is a device designed to complicate simple actions. Its inventor Rube Goldberg may be the inspiration for Ruby Goldberg's name.
- Unlike other comic strips, the title appears to be a non-sequitor.
