The Mystery Boxes, also known as The Boxes is an unusual object currently serving no purpose.
Appearance[]
The Mystery Box is a paper cube (without a bottom face) with a question mark printed on all faces, which are held together by tape, with dotted lines and scribbles in random places.
Location & Usage[]
Boris and the Dark Survival[]
Three mystery boxes are located throughout the Safehouse. Interacting this object will make it shake, but nothing special happens at this moment. One of them is located in the same place as the flashlight in Chapter 3: Rise and Fall from Bendy and the Ink Machine. Another one is on top of a barrel in Milla's dungeon, however it only appears once you beat the Twisted Alice level. The final one so far can be found after getting Sammy, and it is found on the table in the Golden Days Gallery.
The mystery box currently serves no real purpose. Interacting with it will cause it to shake and play a shaking sound. The game script shows no sign of any other box usage and changing all the ints to 100 and bools to true in the save file won't change anything.
Bendy: Secrets of the Machine[]
The mystery box is found in the room with the TV that displays spoilers. It sits on the ledge to the right.
Using the box 414 times with cause the box the levitate before letting off a fart noising and falling back into it's original position, also serving no real purpose but to waste time.
Trivia[]
- The object's design resembles that of the Question Block from the Super Mario series.
- The table model that the first mystery box is placed is a different one from Bendy and the Ink Machine.
- If the player Uses hacks to look inside the box, it just shows a message saying "SORRY NOTHING" in the Amatic SC font. This is the case for all of the boxes.
- This is currently the only easter egg in Boris and the Dark Survival that happens when looking in places you shouldn't.
- TheMeatly, on January 14th, 2024, tweeted out saying how he "hasn't forgotten", with an image of a mystery box attached.[1]
- This is likely implying that the mystery boxes will be opened in the next DLC for Boris and the Dark Survival.

- Hitting the box 414 times in BSOTM is in reference to 4/14, a day commonly used by the developers for big announcements.
