Joey Drew is an ink-astral projection replica of the real Joey Drew created by the Ink Machine and the overarching protagonist of Bendy and the Dark Revival.
History[]
Bendy and the Dark Revival[]
Joey appears in various chapters of Bendy and the Dark Revival as an apparition of himself created by the ink. He first appears in Chapter 2 inside the boarded-up doorway of the locker room, looking at something.
Joey has a bigger appearance in Chapter 3 inside of the Gent Emergency Shaft, where he reveals that the Cycle was created using the Ink Machine by him and the Gent Corporation, and that it exists in parallel to the real world, although it is not affected by the passage of time. It is also revealed that the events of BATDR are caused by an external force manipulating the Cycle in order to stop it from resetting, and is creating all types of monstrosities with the most dangerous being the Keepers. Upon finishing his explanation, he merges with the wall to reveal his own tombstone, with a Bendy plush and candles surrounding it. On the left, "JUST A PENCIL AND A DREAM.", part of Joey's philosophy, is written in ink.
Joey appears again in Chapter 4, in the upper floor of the Downside Hotel. He transports Audrey to the Foyer from Chapter 1 of the original Bendy and the Ink Machine, with the repercussions of the original Ink Bendy's rampage clearly discernible. When Audrey sits in the chair beside the projector, a short film plays in front of her.
It is revealed that the real Joey Drew blamed everyone but himself for his shortcomings and lashed out at Henry, his former business partner, for abandoning their work. In his rage, Joey used the Ink Machine to create the Cycle, which he then used to realize his fantasies of torturing Henry for eternity. This continued until Allison Pendle visited the studio, who Joey claims "saw something good in him no one else could, including himself". Allison influenced Joey to become a less hateful, less vengeful, and ultimately better version of himself. He then proceeded to give Henry, still stuck in Joey's cycle, an angel of his own, who would guide him and provide him with hope even in the darkest moments. It was then that Joey decided to create something different with the Ink Machine - a real family, which he could previously never attain due to his hateful nature. After lots of trial and error, Joey was able to create a daughter - a bright and kind young girl who Joey referred to as "almost human". This girl is revealed to be Audrey, who denies that she was created from ink and orders Joey to return her to the hotel.
Joey appears once more in Chapter 5, after Audrey unifies with the Ink Demon in the Ink Machine Lair. He attempts to reason with Audrey in her new form, however he is snatched up by the Ink Demon, who crushes and promptly discards of him, leaving the End Reel on the floor as he sinks into the dark puddles.
