Betty is a supporting character in Bendy and the Dark Revival, and one of the many inhabitants Audrey encounters during her journey through The Cycle.
Description[]
Physical Appearance[]
Betty appears to be a woman with a strapless beige top with a black waist band, sleeves, and dress. She also seems to wear a black ribboned choker on her neck. Her most notable feature is that she is wearing a wooden mask that resembles either a puppet or a doll with empty sockets, black lipstick, and a wavy wooden bobcut that has a ribbon on the side. Her hands appear to be real and are covered in various wrinkles with black nail polish.
Personality[]
Betty seems to be soft spoken yet concerned woman who is very much aware of the chaos that is happening in the studio. She seems surprised by Audrey's stability and comments on how most of the residents are either mute or insane.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Betty was invented by Wilson as his personal house keeper. In the game; she mentions how she was made after a long line of previous failed experiments.
Betty’s exact origins are unknown. What’s clear is that she was brought under Wilson’s protection sometime after he instated his rule over the Cycle. She says she doesn’t trust Wilson, but stays with him for the security he provides from the horrors of her world. Wilson liked to keep her around, telling her she reminded him of his mother despite Betty not knowing what a mother is.
She rarely had anyone to talk to, as Wilson was often off working and everyone else “either can’t speak or they’re completely mad.”
Bendy and the Dark Revival[]
When Wilson brought Audrey to his private stronghold, Betty was tasked with bringing her to her room. Betty did so, happy that she had someone she could actually talk to. However, she also advises Audrey to drink a special drink to get some sleep. When Audrey is kidnapped by Alice Angel but returns safely Betty is relieved and asks her to head down to see Wilson.
Trivia[]
- Her name was confirmed in a tweet[1] by theMeatly prior to the release of Bendy and the Dark Revival.
- Her mask might be a reference to the failed game Showdown Bandit, which was also developed by Kindly Beast, due to its resemblance to that game's puppet characters.
- She has knowledge for natural remedies, or at least a cartoon version of it, as the drink made for insomnia is her own recipe, but she often forgets to add the gilson (a rare cartoon fish that can be ground up for soothing properties).
- In an optional side quest in the game, she states she'd normally have to sneak out of the mansion to get the groceries, but is unable to do so as of late, this has to rely on outside help that she'd normally wouldn't ask of a guest. Completing this errand gives access to a memory.
Lines[]
“There’s some nice fresh blankets laid out for you, you’ll be dreaming in no time.”
“Come along. And no more dawdling. This way now!”
”Oh, you’re here at last! It’s so exiting finally having you with us! Now, to give you some bearings, we’re currently standing in the south wing. Wilson’s laboratory is downstairs, and then… there’s the north wing, the ink demon got in there a while ago and ever since we’ve had to keep the north wing locked up tight. I’m afraid it’s fallen into ruin by now. All those juicy, lovely books gone to waste. Only Keepers go there these days, and they’ll tear you apart limb from limb if Wilson isn’t with you. So, mind your distance and you’ll be fine.”
“It’s not very often I have guests to look after, especially one I can talk to. Almost everyone here either can’t speak or they’re completely mad.”
“Alright! Here we are! Best room in the house. You should see where I sleep, ugh. But this room, ah! Just perfect! I saw to every detail! Bed is clean, the bath is on the left, sorry about the stains. I did try my best to get them out.”
“Did you have any questions?”
”It’s always dark if that’s what you mean.”
”For as long as I can remember.”
”No, as far as I understand it, I’m something quite new.”
”Although, I didn’t quite turn out the way I was supposed to, one in a long line of failed experiments, but, Wilson will keep trying.”
”This is the realm of the Ink Demon. His shadow hangs over us all, I don’t trust anyone, but, Wilson takes care of me, keeps me safe.”
“He once said I reminded him of something he calls his… mother?”
”Well, no matter.”
”Now, I was told to make sure you get some sleep once you got here, so get nice and comfy, and relaxing. I left something on the table that might help you nod off, it’s my own recipe, works very fast, just follow the instructions, carefully.”
”Of course. If you need anything else, I’ll come straight away, I’m always up.”
“Ahem! I- uh, forgot the gilson again, didn’t I? And there’s some already ground up in the kitchen too, ah- hm-. I’ll be-, I’ll bring it up to your room straight away, shall I? Oh, and, maybe you could put Harold back into his tank? He does so hate the dry air.”
”There you are! Thank goodness! Wilson’s waiting for you downstairs in the laboratory when you’re ready. But first, can I get your help with something?”
”Normally I wouldn’t ask this of the guest, but with all that’s happening I can’t sneak out and get things like I usually do, do you think you could pop ‘round to the farmers market back in town and find me a few ingredients? We’re running quite low in the kitchen and I was hoping we could all celebrate tonight with a lovely supper! Won’t take but a moment if you go by train, up to you! No pressure!”
”You're a miracle worker! Truly! Oh, I only wish there was something I could do for you! Oh wait! I spotted something in the fountain yesterday. Don’t know hat it’s for, but you’re welcome to have it”
“You’d better go see Wilson downstairs… he’s been waiting ages.”
