"Thanks, Joey. Just what I needed. More distractions. These stupid cartoon songs don't write themselves, you know."

Chapter 4: Factory of Horrors[]

Archie Carter appears in an audio log right before entering the Gent building.

Fade to Black[]

Rose Sorenson is confronted by Archie Carter after leaving her workplace, AKA the home of The Joey Drew Show, in a back alley before experiencing a fight or flight response and choosing the latter. She encounters him again when leaving Nathan Arch's mansion and is chased into a subway station where he saves her from falling onto the tracks. He explains his reasoning for pursuing her is her connection to Joey Drew, and removes his hat and sunglasses to reveal a "sickly yellow" tint to his skin, black eyes, and his black hair flowing as if he was underwater. Archie asks Rose to get him in contact with Joey.

Archie meets with Rose and Dot later in the story, conspiring to destroy the Ink Machine, which is stored in the basement of the TV studio Rose works at. Once there, an inky blackness envelopes the room and he senses the presence of the Ink Demon, proceeding to dash into the void and is followed by the sound of a sickening crunch.

When Rose dons the 3D glasses gifted to her by Joey himself, she encounters Archie in The Cycle, who leads her to the other test families holed up in Heavenly Toys. When everyone tries to escape, Archie sacrifices himself so the others can cross an inky well of Lost Ones and Searchers. Presumably, he was reborn in The Cycle as he mentioned he already experienced time and time again.

Chapter 4: Factories of Horrors

"I don't like to ask questions. I believe everyone's got their own business. You hear something, you leave it alone! But when you've spent as much time in and out of a jug as I have, you learn to keep your mouth shut about things, you know? So when I saw this here ad in the newspaper that reads: "Gent Corporation looking for research subjects, pays three fifty a week", I figured it would be good for me. Easy money, right? With my record, you can't afford to be picky. But turns out... something's really wrong going on in this place. I mean, I've seen dead people before. But here... death is like a way of life. A clockwork march. They wheel out the bodies, and they disappear down the chute. Forgotten men from the street, paid to die. Three fifty a week..."
